Auditioning can seem scary, even to the most gifted and well-trained actor. It can feel like an uncertain process, where pure luck counts for as much as real talent. But auditioning is a skill that can be taught. The LAB demystifies the audition process in an intimate, nurturing environment, and gives actors the tools they need to ensure that every audition is the best it can be.
The LAB gives each participant the skills to improve confidence and self-reliance, and the ability to deal with unexpected challenges that arise during the audition process. It also empowers actors by giving them a clear understanding of how the “business” of auditioning really works — an important step toward earning a living doing what they love to do.
Through scene study, individually tailored exercises, and discussions, the LAB explores on-camera auditions, troubleshooting “the room,” and how to develop a customized marketing package for each participant. In addition, the LAB looks at how and where to make industry connections, and the crucial differences between auditioning styles for film, television and theater.
LABs are small, ensemble-based workshops with no more than 8 participants per session. Actors are hand picked through an online audition process. As a result, each LAB has a diverse talent pool with a similar level of experience. This ensures that the curriculum can be tailored to the specific needs of its participants. Each actor receives one-on-one guidance from Laura Rosenthal and Maribeth Fox.
The LAB is highly effective as an accompaniment to graduate programs, or as a post-graduation tutorial intro to the “real world”. For agencies The LAB can be an invaluable tool for new or existing clients to sharpen their audition skills. It’s also appropriate for the committed actor of any age or experience level who’s interested in learning more about the auditioning process.

The LAURA ROSENTHAL AUDITION LAB is $750.00 and includes 9 hours of instruction, all materials as well as on-camera auditions. Class size is limited to 6 – 8 participants per LAB.
